Pan Bagnia
A giant, delicious Italian sub-like sandwich, great for picnics.

INGREDIENTS

1 large loaf french bread
1 clove garlic
black olives
fresh basil and/or arugula
2-3 red bell peppers
fresh tomatoes
parmesan and/or mozzarella
few drops balsamic vinegar
salt and pepper

other optional ingredients:
sweet onion
pepperocini
capers
radish

INSTRUCTIONS

roast the peppers in a toaster oven

cut the bread in half lengthwise

rub garlic over the bread, and brush with olive oil

layer on olives, then tomatoes, salted delicately, then basil, and arugula, then cheese, then red pepper and other ingredients

drizzle a little more olive oil and some balsamic vinegar, followed by some fresh pepper, and cover with the top loaf.

wrap the loaf tightly with foil, and refrigerate for ~30 minutes, preferably with a weight on top of it

Serves

4-8, depending on size of bread
