Chunky Applesauce
Delicious, homemade, stew-like apple sauce makes a great fall dessert, especially with vanilla ice cream.

INGREDIENTS

5 lbs. fresh apples (mix of red, yellow, and green - get the juiciest, and be sure to include some golden delicious)
3 cups spring water
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
2-4 Tbs. brown sugar

INSTRUCTIONS

Wash, core and peel the apples.

Simmer peels and cores in covered saucepan in the water for about 30 minutes, then strain, keeping water and discarding the rest.

Bring water to a boil, then simmer the quartered apples over low heat, stirring often, for about 1 1/2 hours, until apples are at desired consistency.

Serves

6 or so
